A report from the regular Planning Ministers meetings

4.00pm - 5.00pm AEST

State and Territory Planning Ministers have been meeting regularly with the Federal Urban Infrastructure Minister and the ALGA President  during the COVID-19 crisis, with the stated goal of keeping planning processes – and the construction-based economy - moving during the downturn.

This is a vital outcome for growth area councils too, not just in the sense of fast-tracking approvals, but about securing the supporting infrastructure that is so often overlooked.

As Australia’s ‘new normal’ starts to emerge, will crisis-induced shifts in planning processes endure - and how can local government keep its seat at the planning table, despite being excluded from the new National Cabinet?

Presenters: Mayor David O’Loughlin, ALGA President and NGAA Deputy Chair and ALGA Vice-President, Mayor Tracey Roberts

Moderator: Bronwen Clark, Executive Officer, NGAA
