Mayor Glenn Docherty has dedicated his life to serving the City of Playford, starting at just 13 when he joined the St John Ambulance Cadets. Growing up in Playford, Glenn took advantage of the many opportunities to volunteer with emergency services, service clubs, and sporting organisations, experiences that shaped his professional and leadership journey.
A passionate advocate for his community, Glenn pursued a career in nursing and now works at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, where he plays a vital role in supporting patients in ICU, the Emergency Department, and beyond. His commitment to community service earned him the title of Young Playford Citizen of the Year in 2002, inspiring his entry into local government.
Elected as a Councillor at just 19, Glenn became Playford’s youngest Mayor in 2010 and has since led his city with vision and dedication. With a growing community of over 97,000, Glenn remains focused on creating a safe, vibrant, and opportunity-rich environment for all. He is proud to call Playford home and is committed to shaping its bright future as part of the Strategic Advisory Committee for the National Growth Areas Alliance.
